  • Reinventing world music, Danish singer-songwriter Stig Skovlind has created a wonderful and charming album with a scent of reggae, afro, salsa, and jazz.

'Nærmeste Solopgang' (The Nearest Sunrise) is Stig's first solo album in Danish following his two albums in English, 'Breaking News from the Coffee Shop' (2004) and 'Coffee & Love' (1996).

Poetry, emotions and tales take you on a journey that started in Copenhagen back in 1963. A journey that took Stig across the Atlantic in a sailing boat in 1984, with rucksack round South America - and later on to musical adventures in Cuba, Honduras and Cape Town.

This album has been recorded in collaboration with a team of some of the best musicians, and the result is uplifting and life-affirming. And just perfect for a celebration of the rising sun!
